India and the Reshaping of the World Order

About the Program

Succeeding ‘Global Orders’ across the ages, have become  more connected through science and technology. A corresponding transformation of society has given rise to dominant civilisations in different eras up to the present, where we are witnessing a cataclysmic  restructuring of the current World Order.

The present, second decade of the 21st Century is witnessing  fundamental global strategic restructuring, configured around the traditional powers of the past century and the emerging Asian civilizational powers of China, India, Japan, Korea and Iran. It is driven primarily by economic dynamism, growth and prosperity.

The thrust for dominance in a multipolar world has resulted in the emergence of two blocs – one led by the US and the other by China – with the aspirational  middle powers of India, Japan and Germany under pressure to choose one side or the other, as in the Cold War era of the Eastern and Western power blocs.

Are we witnessing a repetition of history or will there be clear break from the oppressive, cyclical past?

Is the turbulence of change, fuelled by the ascendance of  China and India as military and economic powers, forcing equitable and just reforms on obsolete global multilateral institutions?

At the approach of the third decade of the 21st century – conditioned by the simultaneous surge of both conflict and disease across the globe, influenced by tremendous scientific advances in the virtual world – is the human factor becoming the lagging link?

How national governments and populations respond to these daunting challenges and fearsome uncertainties are the issues that form the substance and context of the ‘International Relations’ Lectures presented by India’s preeminent liberal arts and sciences college – St Stephen’s College, through its Centre for Advanced Learning, and the internationally reputed Global Dialogue Forum.

On offer is a two week, online Advanced Certificate Course – ‘INDIA AND THE RESHAPING OF THE WORLD ORDER’ – from September 21, 2020 to October 2, 2020.
